Hooping For Local Groups

On Tuesday, March 29, 2011, a few Altoona Hoop Jam members did a hula hoop demonstration with a local Girl Scout Troupe.  The members performed for the girls, as well as taught them a few tricks using the hula hoops.

On Monday, April 11, 2011, a few Altoona Hoop Jam members did a hula hoop performance for residents at the local nursing home, Garvey Manor.  The members spent about an hour and a half hoop-dancing to music.

On Sunday, May 1, 2011, two Altoona Hoop Jam members (Kim and Tifoni) performed for supporters of the March of Dimes Walk that was held at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg.  The two girls performed to a few songs while walkers registered and prepared for the two-mile walk.

On Saturday, June 18, 2011, two Altoona Hoop Jam members (Kim and Sarah) performed for spectators at the Bedford County Underground Railroad Juneteenth Celebration.  These two rocked the lawn with their hooping and bright smiles.

Boomtown Hoop Performance and Workshop

We are hoping to schedule a performance and workshop by the Boomtown Hoop Troupe.  They are from the panhandle of West Virginia.  Anyways, they will be coming up to Altoona on either a Saturday or Sunday to do a performance for us, followed by a workshop in which they will give us some tips and pointers on hooping and various tricks.  Right now it's looking like the cost will be a $20 donation per person.

Before I schedule them to come for a performance and workshop, I need to see if there is enough interest. Please let me know ASAP.

Here is the link to their facebook page if you wish to check them out: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Boomtown-Hoops/83001921490?ref=ts

Make Your Own Hoop Night

This even was held on Saturday, December 18th, 2010 at Kim's house from 4-7pm.  The event went great!  Unfortunately there were a lot of people who couldn't make it due to holiday parties and obligations.  If you did not get a chance to make your own hoop, and would like to purchase one, Contact Kim Cuppett.  She is selling them for $12 a hoop.
